Declan Oldfield

Associate Specialist Orthotist

Declan is an experienced specialist orthotist who has been working with Mr Nick Gallogly as a student and then into clinical practice since he attained his BSc in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Salford University in 2015. 

Declan works within multidisciplinary teams in both complex diabetic foot and ankle clinics and paediatric neuromuscular settings and has a keen interest in foot and ankle and paediatrics. His reputation as a caring and attentive clinician continues to be recognised by those around him. His focus is always around the needs of others and ensuring that the patient`s voice is listened to and is part of the management decision. 

Declan is involved in training and education of other allied health professionals in the role of orthotics and also as a clinical educator for students at undergraduate level. 

Outside of work Declan is a focused and driven on his fitness goals and watches football every chance he gets.

Mr Gallogly was an incredibly friendly and approachable consultant from the first appointment. He explained any treatment he proposed clearly and always put my mind at rest. I consulted Nick Gallogly for my painful feet and walking difficulty. Nick did a full assessment of my feet and gait and explained the cause of my walking pain and suggested a treatment plan. His treatment resulted in a marked improvement in my condition, with reduced pain and improved mobility. Nick’s friendly manner and professional authority were very reassuring and I would recommend his services to anyone with foot problems.

I cannot recommend Mr Gallogly highly enough. Following various sports injuries and problems with her knees and ankles, and consultations with a variety of consultants, my teenage daughter was able to return to playing top level sport thanks to Nick Gallogly. His approach is very hands on and practical, and his manner is so likeable and cheerful, that he immediately put my daughter at ease and we both have utter faith in him. My daughter now wears customised Orthotics, personally overseen by Nick, which have enabled her to return to sport pain-free. Seeing Nick Gallogly completely turned things around for us.

I am a former client of Dave Buchanan and met him through the Spinal Injury Community. I was chatting to my former pyhsio roughly 7yrs ago about purchasing some Calipers as I am a wheelchair user and Paralyzed from the waist down. We started with a face to face meeting where Dave clearly explained the process in designing my bespoke Calipers to enable me to walk small distances and make regular sit to stands easier.  I then visited Dave for the moulding for my legs and feet. Once the moulding had been casted and Dave was happy I returned a few months later for the fitting. The Calipers fitted perfectly and since they have made it possible for me to walk around my house and other places and also helped with my leg and body conditioning. I walked 100m (in the calipers) as part of my own personal triathlon in raising money for a charity.  Dave has always been available in giving me any advice or support when needed. He was always incredibly professional, efficient and most importantly easy to work alongside.
