Meet The Team

Nick Gallogly

Consultant Orthotist & Clinical Director

Nick first qualified from Dublin City University with an honour’s degree in Medical Mechanical Engineering. It was here that he came across prosthetics and orthotics which ultimately lead him to advance his career journey, gaining an honour’s degree in Prosthetics & Orthotics in 2008. In 2014 is graduated with an MSc in Clinical Biomechancis at Satffordshire University.

In 2020 Nick was nominated and short listed for “Orthotist of the year”. He was identified by current and past students for his dedication to education and training. 

Nick is also the official foot and ankle specialist to a number of professional sports team. These include the GB rowing and Para-Rowing Teams, London Irish Rugby, Bath Rugby, Bristol Rugby, Gloucester Ruby , Connacht Rugby and Reading FC academy. He is also a qualified medical classifier for GB Para Rowing.

Nick works as the Orthotic Clinical and Service Lead for the Royal Berkshire Foundation Trust Hospital in Reading, Berkshire. He has been the chair of NOMaG which is the group of NHS clinical managers for orthotic services in England. He is a guest lecturer for Salford university and has been an external examiner for undergraduate training since 2020. He is a consultant to the healthcare ombudsman. He works as part of the education faculty for the British association of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (BOFAS) and educates soon to qualify foot and ankle surgeons on conservate orthotic management of foot and ankle conditions. In 2021 he wrote a chapter in a book called “Essentials of Foot and Ankle Surgery”, authoring the chapter “Principles of Foot and Ankle Orthoses”.

Nick is highly recognised in the management of sporting injuries. He looks after national and internation teams across a wide variety of sports. He has been working with the GB rowing and para-rowing teams since 2012 and is a medical classifier for pararowing. He works across football, rugby, athletics, swimming and endurance running. He was the on-call Orthotist for the 2015 Rugby world cup. 

In football he has looked after/and or continues to support Reading FC, Wimbeldon FC, Wycombe Wanders FC, Norwich FC, West Ham FC, Glasgow Rangers FC and Leighton Orient FC. In rugby he current looks after the England national team, Bath Rugby, Bristol Bears, Harlequins, Saracens, Northampton Saints, Leicester Tigers, Connacht and Munster Rugby. 

Nick has a keen interest in lower limb biomechanics both in the treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions in adults and children. He has a research interest in the identification and conservative management of tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction in primary care. He is also involved in research relating to ankle range and its impact in sport.
